POSITION SUMMARY: The Veterinary Technician is responsible for creating relationships with clients while ensuring the patients receive best medical care through educating clients on products and services. As an integral part to the company, the technician is responsible for being a medical communicator and attaining the agreement for medical care plan and estimates then delegate the execution of the treatment plan and ensure all is done per medical standards. The result of each appointment is for the owners to have a full understanding of services provided and patients that are continuously improving in their health. Following up with clients is an important portion of this position. The position is also responsible for maintaining key performance indicators and has clear intention to improve in their personal, professional and financial goals. Ultimately, the role requires the technician to be skilled in all medical terminology and client communication while being solution oriented, able to be inspiring to others, have the pets best interest in mind and come from the aspect of help at all times. PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES: - Creates high trust level with our clients by educating clients on all aspects of their pets care - Educating owners on each medical recommendation to improve the health, length and quality of life of their pets - Develops a plan for execution of the surgical cases to be done efficiently and minimize wasted time while providing environment where safety is priority - Monitors hospitalized and boarding patients while keeping direct and constant communication with the veterinarian - Monitors client communication for any outpoints, misunderstood words or concepts, non-agreements and handles each one with professionalism and understanding - Establishes the importance of creating future appointments to complete medical recommendations to improve pets health - Maintains communication with client after each appointment to ensure the patient is improving, owner is complying with medical recommendations and clearing any confusions while relaying the importance of follow up and continued medical care - Develops medical care plans prior to appointments to be in control - Represents the company with high regard and respect by following our core values CAPABILITIES / KEY COMPETENCIES: - Proficient in word processing and spreadsheets - Solid ability to define and explain veterinary medical terminology - Ability to handle most common objections or barriers for owners - Ability to handle any client regardless of financial status with maintaining professionalism - Maintain drug free and smoke free environment - Managing juniors with respect and ensuring actions are completed - Maintaining log of key performance indicators and evaluating weekly from aspect of improving and helping more patients - Solid skills for attaining blood and placing catheters on canine and feline patients - Knowledge and understanding of the radiology machine and common positioning - Knowledge and understanding of anesthesia machine and monitoring systems - Knowledge and understanding of laboratory machines and able to communicate to clients EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - High school diploma & minimum 18 years old - 2 years minimum experience as a veterinary technician is required - Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) certification is a plus - Bilingual English & Spanish is a plus PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Prolonged periods of standing - Ability to Lift 50 pounds ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Continuing veterinary technician education, Personalized Coaching on PPF (personal, professional and financial goals), Incentive plans, Aflac, Disability Insurance.
