Requirements for Additional Job Levels Depending on the combination of education and experience, selected candidates may be hired as an Inpatient Veterinary Technician and assigned Levels I, II, or III. Salary range is determined by eligibility for Level I, II, or III. Consideration for Tech I, Vet Inpatient requires an Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field related to the area of assignment. Level II requires an Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field related to the area of assignment plus 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment. Level III requires an Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field related to the area of assignment plus 4 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital environment. Essential Functions: Administers treatments and monitoring of patients admitted in IMC or ICU, Observes and records vital data, abnormal signs, body weight, food/water intake of animals, and collects and labels specimens and perform treatments and administer medications as prescribed by primary veterinarian. Performs, instructs, and demonstrates advanced veterinary care techniques and procedures related to emergency and critical care medicine. Assists veterinarians in the care of patients requiring advanced procedures and life-saving techniques including CPR, mechanical ventilation and dialysis. Inspects facilities, equipment, and supplies daily, as well as observes health status of animals, environmental conditions, temperature, and sanitation. Performs emergency triage and stabilization of patients presenting through the Emergency service. May be responsible for, or assist in, billing clients, inputting charges, and/or similar tasks. This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays. May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to others. May provide input to performance reviews of other employees. Working Schedule: *This is a rotating monthly swing shift: Mon-Thurs 3:00 pm - 1:00 am, Fri - Sun 1:00 pm - 2:00 am **This position will work to provide care for patients after hours, on weekends, and holidays.
